Porsche
is expanding its vehicle lineup with a new model intended not for the young at
heart, but rather the young.
Porsche announced penultimate week it was adding a new children's Go Kart to its Porsche Driver's Selection. Designed for kids ages five and up, the Go Kart will give the thrill of driving long before that coveted 16th birthday.
Like all of its road-going cars, the Go Kart is designed around the automaker's Porsche Intelligence Performance lightweight philosophy. Although the Go Kart's frame is made out of steel, it tips the scales at just 55 pounds, which we assume is good for a pedal-powered vehicle.
Upholding the Porsche name, the Go Kart uses only the finest components, including composite wheels, low-profile inflatable tires and a sports bucket seat. Of course being a Porsche, we assume there will be a long list of optional extras, like leather covered steering column and a Sport Chrono package.
Although cheap compared to a 911, the Go Kart isn't exactly wallet friendly, carrying an MSRP of $900. However, the Go Kart can handle children weighing up to 110 pounds, so it should be useful for several years, assuming your kid doesn't get tired of it after a few weeks.
